Christina Quinn, born into a creative family from Bermuda, raised in New York City and Bermuda, loved to sing from the earliest age. Her father was the chief designer for Jim Henson’s Muppets, and exemplified the importance of contributing meaning to the world through the arts. She was singled out at the age of seventeen amongst the students in her high school to sing at a peace concert with James Taylor and Chaka Khan. This would be the beginning of a devoted career in which she would use her singing and her love of music to serve issues and charities close to her heart.

As an adult she has been invited to sing at events such as The State of the World Forum, a world- class summit hosted by Mikhail Gorbachev designed for global leaders in world affairs, humanities, sciences and the arts. She was a featured vocalist in Voices of Nine Eleven: A Gathering of Faith, Hope, and Love, which was created by Emmy awardwinning composer/producer Gary Malkin for The Washington National Cathedral’s commemorative event, honoring the one year anniversary of the international tragedy.

She was a featured performer at the 2005 International Conference for the Institute of Noetic Sciences in Washington, D.C., where she sang in a multicultural musical for which she collaborated as a contributing songwriter, in a performance that earned her a standing ovation. Most recently, she has sung on a recording of the song, “Be Still My Soul” with nationally known singer/songwriters Beth Nielsen Chapman and Bonnie Raitt for a tsunami relief project.

Christina regards the singing voice as an instrument of the soul and performs worldwide for concerts whose themes promote social healing, global unity, and universal spirituality. Her voice can also be heard on film and television scores as well as other artist’s recordings. Christina is currently participating in the recording a CD of songs created from the texts of each of the world’s major religions, entitled “The Writings.”

She has two CDs of original songs, “Crimson Robe” and “Bring in the World,” the title song of which has served as the centerpiece for many conferences and events whose aim is to help heal the ills of the world. “He is the Healer,” her third CD, is a healing prayer set to music, which is used by professionals and people in the healing arts, and is Christina’s most popular CD yet. She is in the process of completing a new CD of original songs, to be released this year.

Why did I choose to sing Julia?

Really for me, there was no other choice...I was pretty much nursed on Beatles music growing up and am so thankful that my father was and is such a music lover.  I have always felt in sync with the pure messages of peace and love in the Beatles' songs. I used to sing "Julia" to my daughter as a lullaby.  My daughter's name is Julia and she seems to fill the dreamy images that song offers. "Julia, Julia, ocean child calls me..." I never knew that that song was about John Lennon's mother. There is sweetness in that. Being a dreamer and a lover of beauty, the words of that song touched me in a deep place. "Her hair of floating sky is shimmering, glimmering in the sun..." One can sort of make up what the song means. John had his own story for his mother and I have my own story for my Julia. Growing up in Bermuda I think everyone feels a poetic relationship with ocean, sky and beauty. "So I sing my song of love for Julia..." I feel so grateful to have been able to sing this sweet song on this wonderful project. And to hear my brother singing "Beautiful Boy," well~ I can't even begin to explain the perfection in that!
