About Hamish
Guitarist/bassist/vocalist and Glasgow native Hamish Stuart is best-known for his stint as one of the most actively contributing members of Scottish soulsters the Average White Band (best-known for their 1974 number one smash "Pick up the Pieces"). A member of AWB from 1972 to 1982, he went on to work with Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and David Sanborn.
Stuart joined Paul McCartney’s band for McCartney's 1989 comeback album, Flowers in the Dirt, and appearing on several other albums and McCartney's world tours of 1989 and 1993.
In 1999, Stuart's first solo album, an old-style funk/soul record titled Sooner or Later, was released in the U.K.; it was issued in the U.S. the following year.
Apart from playing with his own group, the Hamish Stuart Band, and with his fellow Glaswegian guitarist and friend Jim Mullen, Stuart has also produced Gordon Haskell and the Swedish singer-songwriter, Meja.
In 2006, Stuart toured with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band as bassist. He joined Starr again for the 2008 tour, where he performed "Pick Up The Pieces" and "Work To Do".
About Andy
Andrew "Andy" Newmark (born July 14, 1950) is an American musician. Andy's mother was Bermudian and Andy is also a citizen of Bermuda. Andy played as the drummer for the BERMUDA JAM back in the 1960's!
Best known as a popular session drummer, and for playing with the funk band Sly & the Family Stone from 1972 to 1973. Hired to replace Gerry Gibson, who in turn had replaced founding Family Stone member Gregg Errico, Newmark was invited to audition for Sly Stone by Family Stone saxophonist Pat Rizzo. Newmark went on to record one album as the Family Stone's drummer, Fresh (1973) and also performed with the band for two years in live concert.
After leaving the band in 1974, Newmark has performed and recorded with John Lennon, Cat Stevens, Joe Walsh, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, George Harrison, Rickie Lee Jones, Patrick Moraz, Randy Newman, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Murray Head, Ronnie Wood, Roxy Music, ABC, Hue and Cry, Laura Nyro, Elkie Brooks, Sting, Steve Winwood, Nils Lofgren, George Benson and Michael Franks. He is featured on Carly Simon's 1971 album Anticipation and Gary Wright's 1975 album Dream Weaver. In 1980, he was the sole drummer on John Lennon's last album, Double Fantasy, as well as Milk and Honey released in 1984. He was also the featured drummer on Yoko Ono's Season of Glass in 1981.
Andy Newmark played also drums on 2 songs on Pink Floyd's album The Final Cut (1983).
Newmark is a Patron and visiting artist at drum and percussion school, Drumtech in London.
About Jim
Jim studied at the Leeds College of Music where he obtained a first class BA Honours degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music, studying piano with Nikki Isles.
After Leeds he moved to London, studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Jazz and Studio music, studying, among others, with pianists Simon Purcell and John Taylor.
Moving to London in 1996, Jim began to work with a broad selection of artists both in the jazz and the pop idiom and continues to enjoy a varied selection of work with many different performers both live and in the recording studio.
Among others he has performed with Meshell Ndegeocello, Gary Barlow, Marti Pellow, Cat Stevens, Paloma Faith Chris Difford (Squeeze), Hamish Stuart (Average White Band), Zero 7 (world tour), Brand New Heavies, Incognito(world tour), Omar, James Taylor Quartet, Patti Austin(Berghausen Jazz Festival), Guy Barker International Septet, Gary Moore, BBC big band, Clark Tracey, Alan Barnes, Peter King, Jean Toussaint....
He has recently performed with Katie Melua, and with Manu Katche’s band (Sting, Peter
Gabriel).
About Adam
Adam Phillips is a British jazz and blues guitarist and singer. His thoughtful and tasteful playing has earned him a place among the very finest of UK session guitarists. His playing graces an ever expanding and diverse catalogue of recordings: switch the radio on for just half an hour and there’s a very good chance you’ll hear him.
He’s played and recorded with, among many others, David Bowie, Enrique Iglesias, Tina Turner, Lionel Ritchie, Cher, Richard Ashcroft, James Morrison and Rod Stewart.
He currently plays with the Straits (Dire Straits' Alan Clark and Chris White with five hand picked, world class musicians - Terence Reis, Steve Ferrone from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mickey Féat, Adam Phillips and Jamie Squire - performing the music of Dire Straits).
About Steve
Steve Pearce is a hugely renowned session bassist who seems to have played with just about everybody. His musicality is second to none. Native with electric as he is with double bass, whenever he plays it just seems right.
