UZIMON is a Brooklyn-based, Bermuda born Reggae and Dancehall artist. His style is a mixture of toasting and singjaying heavily influenced by the prominent 80s and 90s Jamaican Dancehall artists, with a sound that blends rocksteady, rub-a-dub, roots reggae, classic and modern dancehall, and hip hop. His style has been described as both a parody of and an homage to the genre.
UZIMON has risen to popularity recently in the NYC Ska/Reggae Scene, selling out at venues such as Mercury Lounge and The Knitting Factory.
UZIMON has shared the bill and opened up for artists such as Ziggy Marley, Raekwon, Cam’ron, The Slackers, Langhorne Slim, The Heavy Pets, Milton Henry, Rubblebucket and more. He is best known perhaps for his live performances which blend high-energy theatrics and comedy with a full band experience. In a recent interview with Steven Hager, former editor-in-cheif of High Times magazine, Hager was quoted as saying "you may not understand what he is talking about half the time, but this guy can rap and sing with the best of them".
His most recent album, 2011’s "Pussy Weapon" appeared on Tape Theory Records and was produced by Phil Moffa and multi-grammy nominated producer Joe Ferry (The Skatalites).
His most recent single, "Hard, so Hard" on Channel Tubes records was produced in collaboration with Brett Tubin and prominent musician composer and producer Ticklah, (Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Antibalas, Dub Side of the Moon, Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black).
He is currently involved in a beef with Matisyahu, whom he describes as “not even Amish”.
