The Wall Street Band
Stay Well, Be Safe and Be Blessed
Bermuda’s own The Wall Street Band is an ensemble of some of our island’s best and most talented musicians. It was formed for the 2005 Music Festival to back local artists for the three nights, courtesy of Glenn Blakeney. They didn’t have a name until the 2008 Music Festival when their bass player, Eugene Tuzo, read out a list of potential band names that he had compiled. He liked the sound of “being backed by WallStreet”. Ironically, it was about a month before the stock market crashed. The band performed at theThe Bermuda Festival, The Motown Revue and Summer Splash. They started out as a 9 piece backing band, accompanying artists that didn’t have a band. From time to time they were asked to provide background vocalists as well. Around 2016 the band decided to be self contained and develop their own repertoire, thus increasing the size to 13 members. In 2016 the Wall street Band band also won the Best of Bermuda Award as Best Musical Group.
